:: PERSONALITY :: There are two aspects to Mr. York, like Jekyll and Hyde. On the one hand, there is the outward appearance of the confident, charismatic, and welcoming Jackson York. This is the man who goes into work every morning at seven in the morning and frequently wins the honor of top earner at the car lot each month. This is the man who  brings home the bacon, the man that everybody feels comfortable talking to. He can make a person feel at ease and at home with just a smile and a smooth joke, personable as he is. Then there is the other aspect of Jackson that isn't so readily let out into the world. This is the man who drinks himself into a frenzy on most weeknights and sometimes uses violence against his family at the drop of a hat. This is the man who never wanted to be a car salesman, who likes his cocaine, who hates his life, who frequently searches for that new wild ride just to feel alive again. 
Yeah, maybe he's a bit on the crazy side, but you'd never know it looking at his manicured lawn, his nice suburban house, his respectful-looking family. And that's just the way he likes it. 
:: HISTORY :: Jackson has never been a normal person. Since childhood, he's always been a bit 'out there' with a long wild streak and a tendency to jump head-first into whatever suited his interests. As a child, he was unruly. As a kid, he was unmanageable. As an adult, he was much more put together and yet the unseen was even more extreme in those years. Throughout the ages of eighteen to about twenty-four, Jackson was experimenting with life. Where some young adults might travel a bit, take up a new hobby, hop around in beds, Jackson was instead absorbed into the fascinating world of the occult. 
He wasn't interested in the new-age witches and their natural zen, he wasn't into studying past eccentricities, he was into the hard stuff. Religious sacrifices, worship of the dead, blood play, power experimentation. The deeper he got, the more truth he learned. At one point, he met his first vampire- a real one. Lexy Blake was her name, and Jackson was hook liked a fish within the first thirty minutes of knowing her. She was a wild girl who was more than willing to entertain his fascination with blood, sex, and violence. Their relationship wasn't anything sustainable; completely based on the pure physical passion that it was, but holy s*it did Jackson have a wild ride with that girl. He could remember days of being locked up in her limbs, sustaining himself on her blood and she on his until they simply collapsed. He didn't know much about her other than her name, that she was a vampire, and that she was a high school student. He never really asked how old she was, he didn't want to know. Somewhere between sixteen and eighteen; had she told him otherwise, he didn't know if he would even care at that point. Did he love her? He thought he did, but age, experience, and reflection taught him that it  wasn't the case. Infatuated, yes, crazy about her, yes- borderline obsessed, even. When she left him, he was inconsolable. He lashed out, he tried to find her. He'd become addicted to her like a bad drug and it took him many years to kick the habit. 
After Lexy left, Jackson tried to move on with his life. He ended up in the adult industry not long after that in an attempt to find a different sort of outlet, and he was paid very well for his 'specialty' performances. He met Rachel on the set of his third movie and just like Lexy, he fell into her head-first. It wasn't the same, but it was close enough to keep him content. Their first child came a few months after they met and it had been Rachel that put a stop to their madness and gave him an ultimatum; straighten up with her, or leave. He thought he loved her and that the baby would hold them together, that she wouldn't leave like Lexy, and so he stayed and they were married. Life began to 'normalize' before his very eyes and before Jackson knew it, his life had passed before him like a warm summer day.
He went from 'most likely to die before the age of twenty-five' to a respectable, moderately successful man with a wife, two kids, and a stable life. He hated it.
