Spencer Troy Robinson Male October 27th, 1892 || 124 Years Old Heterosexual || Single American/British Face Claim: Michael Malarkey Played by Lani | Appearance
Spencer can best be described by his naturally broody expression. Standing at 5'11", Spencer may not be the tallest vampire in his clan, but he does demand the attention and respect of those around him, simply with his posture, demeanor and style. Spencer has straight, smooth,
dark hair that frames his sharp facial features and dark, deep set eyes. Spencer chooses to leave a reasonably light layer of dark stubble on his face, otherwise he appears to be very well groomed. Spencer is most often found wearing dark, well tailored suits to most social occasions. If the occasion demands a more casual appearence, then Spencer will settle for leather jackets, long-sleeved shirts and dark jeans.
Personality
Spencer initially was a kind young man with an ambition that sent him mind whirling. Spencer was always very fond of his baby sister and was prepared to do anything to ensure her happiness. Ultimately this was what lead to his rebirth as a vampire. Once re-born, Spencer's ambition and lust for power grew. The kind boy had not been forgotten, but with his new abilities came a desire to be and do bigger and better. In his 124 years, Spencer has become a successful and respected leader of his very own clan. Being a vampire, he has built his wealth, using his clan as a family to orchestrate a variety of different companies and trades. What drives Spencer now though, is the desire to reign in LA as the leader of the vampire faction. Upon learning about werewolves and hybrids, Spencer is driven to create more hybrids to protect his family and clan and otherwise despises werewolves. He believes vampires are superior to the raw, uncultured ways of the wolves, but accepts the advantages of hybrids over both races. While many may not describe Spencer as kind anymore, he still values his sister and nephew. He will go to great lengths to ensure their safety and security, as well as his own. The years of fighting with the werewolves and searching for a means to breed more werewolves has driven Spencer to be a ruthless patriarch. He is not afraid to kidnap, kill or torture others to get information, if that is what it takes.
History
Born in 1892, Spencer was the eldest child of William and Mabel Robinson. Spencer’s father, William worked in a steel production factory for the majority of his working life, only providing enough money for his family to survive, but not always comfortably. 3 years after Spencer’s birth, Benjamin was born. Within the year, Mable fell pregnant again, but miscarried. It wasn’t until 1899 that Mable fell pregnant and gave birth to their only daughter, Louisa.
Despite not always having a lot of food or money, Spencer had a relatively nice childhood. He was incredibly fond of his baby sister and felt that it was just as much his responsibility to protect her, as it was his parents’. Where possible, he would play with her, enchanted by her radiant smile and dark eyes and wavy hair. He was proud to call himself Louisa’s big brother.
As the children grew, it became clear that Spencer was a kind boy, with his head in the clouds. He saw how hard his father worked just to make do, while the local banker would strut around town, well fed and well paid. The doctor too, lived in a far bigger home than Spencer’s family, but only had 1 child. When Spencer was barely more than 9 years old, he began to work at the factory with his father. Despite being a child, Spencer knew that the hard-working life of his father was not meant for him. Spencer decided at the young age of 11, that he was not simply going to work at the factory, like his father. He wanted more in life.
Spencer quickly learnt that to do well in life, he needed to be well educated, or know the right people. He saw other boys in his town getting tutored through the church, but as his family was not wealthy enough, Spencer was never able to participate. However, when not busy helping his family around the house or following his father to work, Spencer would sit in the main street of town and watch people. He knew he couldn’t buy his way into a better life, but he still wanted it. Instead, he learnt how the successful people went about their daily lives. Spencer would go home and mimic the way in which other gentlemen would speak. He would also try to learn and understand words.
By the age of 19, Spencer managed to be promoted to a supervisor. He had managed to earn his boss’ favour over the years and held himself as being more educated than he actually was. Spencer realised there was something enjoyable about having authority. He particularly liked being in charge of Benjamin, who was 13 by the time Spencer became a supervisor. Spencer did however, feel sympathy for his father, who had been stuck in the same roll, for a very long time.
Spencer slowly worked his way up to being a manager at the factory by the time he was 24. However, Spencer found his ambition was still not satisfied by working up the ladder of command through the factory, especially once the factory began producing steel for weaponry for the war. He still wanted better things for himself and his family, especially Louisa. Despite growing into a beautiful young woman, Louisa did not have many marriage propositions. While Spencer knew that many men found her incredibly attractive, the fact that there were wealthier girls in town meant that Louisa was often overlooked. That did not mean that the local men did not think she was worth having pursuing for pleasure. Enraged that men sought to do unholy things with his baby sister made him determined to provide a better life for her.
A year later, in the Summer of 1917, Spencer enlisted to go to war. He had been enticed by the promises of glory and wealth. Everywhere Spencer looked, there were posters or promoters for the war. He did not need much convincing. He jumped at the opportunity to leave the factory and their poverty and to become a stronger, better man.
Because of his age, Spencer was not trained as an officer. Despite his best efforts to impress the military, his sergeant felt that it was not worth the effort to train him, in case he was killed. As a result, Spencer was made a private.
Like many around him, war was far more horrific than he could have ever imagined. Spencer was sent to the Western Front with many other Americans. Where possible, Spencer would try to avoid the frontlines, doing his best to earn favours with his superiors to keep him in safer jobs. Spencer often ran supplies or secured small outposts. He did not completely avoid the frontline though.
Spencer’s experiences on the field were a blur. Spencer had no words to describe what it was like in the trenches. He would be covered in mud and filth, eating stale rations quickly before being covered in corpse filled flies. The stench of bloating bodies, the constant itching of fleas left Spencer with dwindling spirits. He would go days without removing his clothes and boots, while learning quickly not to make friends with any of the other privates. Too often, his comrades were killed. He began to see his allies as just privates. They were humans, but they weren’t people.
Luckily for Spencer, the war ended some 6 months after he enlisted. As he had not been a part of the military before the Great War, Spencer had been allowed to return home. Upon arriving home, he was pleasantly surprised to find his sister engaged to a broad man by the name of Conan Connolly. At first, Spencer had been unsure of the man, but Spencer soon realised that Conan made Louisa happy and he was willing to give his world to her. Spencer initially found the man’s appearance to be rather fascinating. He was both broad and tall, with a square face, stern brow and chiselled jaw. His hair was a strange mix of auburn and brown. Often, Louisa would swoon about the way in which Conan’s hair would shine like copper in the sun. Despite his large appearance, he was kind and gently spoken. He had a calm, soothing voice, that had the potential to become a low rumble if provoked.
As 1819 drew closer, many people in town began to fall ill, Benjamin included. Spencer had heard of the deadly influenza while at war, but had not assumed to see it follow him home. Despite Benjamin previously being a healthy young man at the promising age of 22, he succumbed to the disease, like many others in the town. As more and more people fell sick, some businesses closed, the factory included.
Soon, the deaths began.
The local doctor would take his carriage from home to home, checking on the sick and dying. Despite his best efforts, he did not seem to know how to cure the disease. Spencer’s family was at a loss. They had no means to ensure Benjamin’s recovery. Mere weeks before the wedding, Louisa too, fell ill. Conan was beside himself with grief and would insist on staying by her bedside, despite concerns for his own health. Spencer too, refused to leave his siblings’ side.
Shortly after developing a frightful fever and a rattling breath, Benjamin passed away. Great sorrow washed over the family, causing Spencer’s mother to spiral into despair. She soon withdrew into herself, having lost a son and likely a daughter soon after.
Unable to watch his baby sister die, weeks before her wedding day, Spencer vowed to find a way to save her. Spencer would spend every waking hour trying to save his sister. Unable to make any progress through standard medicine, Spencer even travelled a few hours to see an infamous witch doctor, putting aside his disbelief and distrust in strange practices.
Eventually, Spencer was pointed in the direction of a vampire. At first, he had been doubtful, assuming the witch doctor was simply fooling him for money. Alas, he had no other options to explore. The witch had spun grand stories of vampire blood holding healing properties. Putting aside his doubts, Spencer pursued the vampire.
Surprisingly, the vampire had been easy to find. Spencer had approached the small cottage armed, expecting a fight, but the vampire was not aggressive. In fact, he was rather weak, having to survive on animal blood, since the disease had broken out. The vampire was not as monstrous as Spencer had assumed. His name was Marion, and he was a lean, pale man with a narrow face and green eyes. Despite only being interested in women, Spencer could not help but notice how stunning the man looked. He was easy to watch and seemed impossibly elegant, despite his unfortunate, weak condition.
After offering some of his own blood, Spencer set to work on convincing the vampire to heal Louisa. While the vampire was grateful for the blood, he was not convinced it was worth his efforts to save the ill human. Despite his pride, Spencer found himself begging Marion to help, promising anything he could give. Eventually, Marion agreed, provided he agreed to become a vampire and join Marion’s clan. Reluctantly, Spencer agreed. Upon learning how a vampire was created, Spencer was horrified, but willed himself to carry through with the deal. He hoped that if he was a vampire, that perhaps he could heal his sister himself, without Marion.
After accepting Marion’s blood, Spencer closed his eyes, trying to ignore the thundering sound of his racing heart in his ears. The last memory Spencer had of his human life, was the feeling of Marion’s smooth fingers pressing against the side of his head, before his neck was swiftly broken.
Hours later, Spencer re-awoke and was immediately greeted with new senses. He could hear everything in such great detail; the birds chirping outside, the abrasive scratching of twigs against the window, it was all so very loud in Spencer’s mind. He was also quick to notice the immense detail in which everything was in now, that his sight was stronger. Every little detail was made evident, but still appeared normal.
What was most shocking, was his own appearance. Spencer could still easily tell he was himself, but it was as if his appearance had improved. Gone were any scars that tainted his skin, which was now smoother and a healthier -albeit lighter- colour. Spencer did not have time to admire his new existence. As night was falling, Marion agreed to accompany Spencer home to fulfil his end of the deal, but warned Spencer that he would need to feed on human blood in the next 24 hours to complete the transition.
As he travelled home, Spencer contemplated not finishing the transition. He wanted to save his sister, but was not sure if he could adjust to the new lifestyle. Any hopes of ditching Marion were abandoned, once Spencer realised he had to complete his transition to be able to save his sister with his own blood. It seemed, he needed Marion after all. None the less, Spencer did not share his concerns with his maker, who spent much of the journey home, teaching Spencer vital pieces of vampire information. The rumours were true, Spencer soon realised. He would be confined to the shadows and darkness, unless he could find a witch willing to make him a piece of daylight jewellery. Spencer then noticed the large ring with a family crest on the face of it, on Marion’s long, pale finger.
While still dark, Spencer arrived home with Marion. The front of the house had been sectioned off and by the smell, Spencer could understand why. The smell of death and sickness hung heavily in the air. It became apparent that Benjamin’s body had not yet been collected, so he was left covered in a dirty sheet, by the front door. Spencer felt a mixture of strong emotions and initially was left unable to respond. It was only because of Marion’s reassurance, that Spencer was able to calm himself and continue on.
Quietly, he led the vampire into Louisa’s room, trying to ignore the sound of blood being beaten through the bodies of those in the house. He could tell which heartbeat belonged to his sister. It was so weak and slow, Spencer was terrified she would pass away at any moment.
Sparing no more time, Spencer stood aside, allowing Marion passage to his dying sister. She looked waxy and pale. Spencer hoped withal his might, that they were not too late to combat the illness. It was only after another pause that Spencer turned to Marion in frustration. The vampire was staring at Louisa, longingly.
“You cannot eat her, she’s sick,” Spencer growled. He would fight to death before he would allow the vampire to drink from his sister.
After another pause, Marion turned to Spencer. He wished to change the deal. He would happily cure Louisa, but wished to turn her into a vampire and make her his mate. Astounded at the forwardness of Marion’s proposition, Spencer felt uncontrollable rage pulsing through his body. It took all he had to refrain from taking a swing at the man, but Spencer resisted. He was still aware that Louisa had not been cured yet, but he would not allow the vampire to marry his sister.
After having Spencer explain that Louisa was engaged to be married and would not want to become a vampire, Marion agreed to leave her be. As promised, Marion took a small blade to his wrist and drew blood. Silently, the vampire approached Louisa and gently pressed his wrist against her lips. Spencer watched, his breath caught in his throat. Despite not needing to breathe, Spencer found it was more comfortable to do so.
“She’s recovering, but give her space, she has a long way to go,” Marion spoke quietly. Relief filled Spencer, but was short lived. As Louisa’s heartbeat began to sound normal and colour rushed to her cheeks, Marion snapped her neck in one, swift movement.
Horrified, it took Spencer a moment to process what had happened. Marion had killed his sister. With a snarl of pure rage, Spencer lunged at Marion. The fight did not last long. It seemed that Marion was not a particularly old vampire and certainly not skilled as a fighter. Spencer however, had learned to fight to some degree in the military. In a matter of moments, Spencer stood with Marion’s heart clutched in his hand. Dropping the heart, Spencer dropped to his knees and made his way to his sister’s bed. Anguish flooded his entire being. He’d lost his sister. It was only after Spencer noticed the blood on Louisa’s lips, that he realised what had really happened. Marion had disregarded Spencer’s wishes and turned Louisa anyway. Spencer felt himself feeling relieved that his sister was not gone, but also sorrow that she would be entering into a life she did not choose. Realising he also had no choice now, Spencer decided to complete his transition. He needed to be sure he could guide his sister through her life as a vampire. He did not know much, but knew only what Marion had told him.
While waiting for Louisa to wake, Spencer wrapped Marion’s body in another sheet and tied him up at his feet chest and arms, so that he looked like another victim of the illness, though not before taking the elaborate ring from Marion’s finger. After he was finished with Marion, Spencer found his hunger too intense to ignore. He could hear his parents’ heart beats. No doubt they had drunk themselves to sleep to wash away their pain. They had not even heard the commotion.
Spencer tried to think of what to do. Surely, he could control himself? Spencer remembered how well Marion had managed to control himself while feeding on him. He could only hope that he wouldn’t kill his parents. Luckily, it was that moment that his sister woke. Spencer heard the gasp of air and was beside her bed quicker than he could process.
It was like she had woken from a dream all refreshed and rejuvenated. Louisa was impossibly more beautiful than before. Even in the darn of the night, Spencer could see that her skin was radiant, her hair glossier than ever before.
“My dear sister, I have a lot to explain to you,” Spencer murmured comfortingly as he took her hand.
While he explained what she was, Louisa sat quietly, listening. She did not interrupt him, nor did she pull away, but Spencer could have sworn he saw tears trickle down her face, before vanishing into the sheets of her bed. As Spencer reached the conclusion of his explanation, he promised her that he would help her through the life, promising to complete the transition with her.
Spencer was not sure if it was the miracle of having another chance at life, or the love she felt for Conan that made her agree to completing the transition, but he was grateful. It was at that moment, that their parents made their way into the room. They had heard voices as the sun began to rise. With less than 10 hours to go before he had to transition, Spencer found it difficult to resist. He could hear their hearts beating.
It seemed Louisa could hear it to, as one moment, they were both on one side of the room, the other, they were embracing their parents, trying hard not to bite. The searing hunger was too much for Spencer. He could hear his mother’s screams as delicious, warm blood flowed down his throat. The smell was too much for Louisa also, who bit into her father’s neck.
As much as Spencer tried, he could not stop himself from feeding. He was ravenous; even the slumping of his mother’s body in his arms was not enough to sway him. Once he was finished, Spencer dropped his mother to the ground and staggered back against the wall. His senses were changing again, sending his emotions crazy. He felt a sense of utter bliss at having fed, which was strangely stronger than his feeling of sorrow and horror. He had killed his own mother, but his overarching emotion was that of satisfaction?
As he became aware of himself again, Spencer noticed his father’s body on the ground, alongside Louisa, who was gently weeping. Spencer comforted her and gave her the ring, promising her that she would be allowed to step out in the sun with it. He gently suggested she go to Conan’s while he cleaned up the mess.
Due to the large number of deaths each day, there was little time or care for anyone to question the deaths of William and Mable Robinson. As a result, Spencer managed to ensure that no suspicion followed him or his sister. Over the next few days, Spencer tried to drink animal blood, but found the taste bitter in comparison to human blood. Still, it sustained him as he made his way back to revisit the witch doctor.
Only after many threats, did Spencer convince the witch doctor to produce a daylight ring. However, the deal they made was that the ring she would make would be for Louisa, as the witch felt pity for a woman who did not choose to enter the life. Spencer agreed, knowing that he would simply take Marion’s ring then as his own.
With no other family, Louisa and Spencer decided to leave town. They could not stay, knowing all the people around them. They did not want to hurt anyone else. Conan of course, wished to come too, understanding how painful it must be for his intended to live where her family had died. As the pandemic drew to an end in 1919, the three made a new home for themselves. To respect tradition, Conan did not live with Spencer and Louisa, but instead, managed to arrange new homes for them. Shortly after, Conan and Louisa married. Only then, did Louisa move in with Conan.
3 weeks after the wedding, Louisa shared some unexpected news with Spencer. Apparently, Conan had been perplexed at the rate in which she had recovered. The conversation led to Conan admitting that he had considered ‘turning’ her to save her, but wanted her blessing. However, he had been afraid to speak of his affliction. As it turned out, Conan was a werewolf and every month, he had to chain himself up, to avoid killing people. He had been a werewolf for years, which was what had driven him across the countryside. Louisa found it a lot easier then, to share her condition with him. The two had agreed to keep each other’s secrets and found comfort and understanding in knowing that they were not afraid of one another.
As the weeks flowed into months, Spencer found work at a local prison as a guard. When not at work, he would hunt with Louisa, both promising to prevent the other from killing their sources. With each feed, the two improved their self-control.
As months became years, Spencer came to love his new way of life. He was powerful and immortal. He could bend others to his will with his charm more often than not and he found that women were more interested in him. He had always been a good, godly boy before turning, but he was now an abomination. Doubting there was a place for his kind in heaven, and knowing that he would not be going to hell so long as he wasn’t killed, Spencer slipped out of his righteousness and fell victim to sin. He was lustful at times and also gluttonous. He enjoyed making money, building wealth for himself. Though eventually, the novelty began to fade. He still enjoyed women, but desired companionship and purpose. Wealth meant he lived comfortably, but he was not happier. Soon, he realised what was wrong; he was a man with ambition, that had no focus.
With that, Spencer turned to education. Despite his age, he learnt how to read and write. With new opportunities open for him, Spencer paid his way through as much education as he could, eventually leaving the jail and taking a job in a bank. He had proven to be quite good with numbers and logic. Still, he had not fulfilled his desire for companionship. He loved his sister more than anything in the world, but respected her desire to stay with her husband. He wanted whatever made her happy, so did not pressure her to form a clan with him. Instead, Spencer set out to recruit others to his lifestyle. He began with his closest friends, tracking them back down and spending time with them, before ultimately making his offer. 2 of his closest friends -Jeremy and Michael- agreed to become vampires, but others did not. One even tried to kill him, which left Spencer no choice but to kill his friend.
After that, Spencer was more careful and less hasty with his recruiting. He only wanted people he could trust to be part of his new family.
Years later, Louisa fell pregnant, shocking herself, Conan and Spencer. They had all come to a silent assumption that vampires would not be able to breed, but there she was, pregnant. 9 months later, Louisa gave birth to a healthy baby boy, who she named Cion. After his birth, it was clear that there was something different about Cion. His scent was very similar to that of a werewolf, but still not quite right.
As the boy grew, it became clear that he was a mixture of both vampire and werewolf – a hybrid. Curious, Spencer did some research, spending his spare time travelling to learn more. Without giving much away, Spencer learnt that fertility was very rare in vampires. Those who showed signs of fertility were regarded very highly. What was more, Spencer found it difficult to find anything about hybrids. All he managed to discover was that they were only rumoured to exist. Many werewolves and vampires did not even believe that hybrids were anything other than a myth.
Realising what danger could fall on his nephew if Spencer let any details free, he ceased his research and warned Conan and Louisa that their son was very rare and highly coveted. He suggested that if they were ever to face other supernaturals, to insist that their son was simply a werewolf. Spencer had been sure to learn that a werewolf and a vampire could birth a full-blooded werewolf before giving said advice.
As the years passed, life was otherwise normal for Spencer, until one fateful night, when Louisa had come to his door with Cion crying is despair. Naturally, he welcomed his sister and nephew and did his best to provide comfort. It seemed that that night, Conan had been particularly tired after work and had dozed off in their lounge room while Louisa and Cion had been out doing some shopping. She liked to take Cion out of the house while his father chained himself up and phased. She did not want him to hear his father’s screams of pain.
Upon arriving home, Louisa realised that Conan had not managed to lock himself away. He had lunged for her and Cion and after trying to get through to her husband, Louisa was left with no choice, but to kill him when he turned on their son.
The events had rattled Louisa, so Spencer made room for her and Cion in his home and promised to look after her. They were his family and part of his clan. He would protect them.
--
Many, many years passed and slowly, Spencer’s clan grew in size. After a couple of decades, the clan would uproot and move around to avoid suspicion. Over the years, despite many attempts, no one else had managed to conceive. Spencer had taken 4 mates, over the years, but had disposed of them when they failed to produce children. Spencer was still the ambitious man he had always been, but after years of fighting with wolves over territory and losing many loved clan members, Spencer had grown cold and possessive. He valued his sister and nephew above anything else and protected them with all his strength.
Spencer also learnt more about hybrids, the most valuable piece of information being that the blood of a hybrid could cure a werewolf bite. Naturally, this gave Spencer and his fighters a sense of being indestructible. They fought harder for territory against werewolves, knowing they could be healed.
In the meantime, Spencer ensured his nephew learnt how to embrace his vampire attributes as well as his wolf characteristics. Spencer figured, that if they could find another hybrid, that Cion could mate with her and hopefully produce more hybrids over time. He was a vampire after all, so time did not concern Spencer.
For the better part of 2017, Spencer and his clan have been fighting over the rights to LA. The werewolves owned LA, but Spencer felt that Los Angeles rightfully belonged to the vampires. It left a sour taste in his mouth, knowing that a pack of uncivilised wolves were rampaging through the beautiful city.
As the feud dragged on, Spencer ordered his fighters to retreat. Despite the reliable source of hybrid blood, the vampires had been falling victim to far too many werewolf bites. The werewolves seemed to also be trying to do more than just bite. Some of Spencer’s most trusted fighters were torn to pieces. Spencer knew he needed to come up with another plan.
Realising that he needed more hybrids sooner rather than later, Spencer sent scouts out to try and find any information that might lead them to a hybrid or more fertile vampires. Louisa was the only vampire in his clan to have ever fallen pregnant, but she had made her stance clear that she did not want to be made to mate with wolves for the sake of producing another hybrid. She did not wish to disrespect Conan’s memory in that way.
By chance, one of Spencer’s scouts overheard a small group of werewolves talking about their families in an old, diner in Arizona. At first, the scout thought nothing of it, and continued to feed on their victim, in the basement under the diner.
“… No, I’m the only one. My sisters are vampires, as was my mother. I’m a mixture of both….”
Unable to believe what they had heard, the scout listened closely. It seemed the eldest of the trio was the hybrid, but seemed guarded to be talking about herself, even though the diner was relatively empty. The only other useful information was something about some town in Colorado called Mactire Falls.
Naturally, Spencer promoted his scout upon hearing what they had discovered. There was another hybrid – a female! After some last-minute preparations, Spencer sends Cion and two other scouts to track the female hybrid. His plan was for Cion to court her, while not drawing attention to the fact that he had been following her. He was to appear natural and genuine. They were also not to cause any harm to the hybrid or her family, nor were they to cause any alarm. In the meantime, Spencer grouped the rest of his clan in Arizona, keeping his sister close by. He wanted to learn more about the town, Mactire Falls, while he waited patiently for updates.
It did not take long for the scouts to relay information back to him about Mactire Falls. The town had a truce between werewolves and vampires; both were welcome. To Spencer, that simply meant that the town was a hybrid breeding ground. He had not seen anywhere else that tolerated the co-existence of both races. Sure, he had heard of forbidden romances between the two, but not something to the scale of Mactire Falls. Spencer had every intention to move his clan closer, but would wait until he knew that Cion had met the hybrid. He did not want to draw attention to himself and his clan until he was sure that his prize was there.
